Oxycodone prescriptions and pain-pill totals in NY’s Medicaid program, 2012-14

The New York State Department of Health, and Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, oversees billions of dollars of prescription drug transactions. Doctors, pharmacies and other health care providers report information to the state agency as part of programs seeking to limit fraud, waste and illegal activity. The Journal News/lohud.com obtained oxycodone drug data for Medicaid, the joint state and federal program, through a public-records request. What follows are the annual tally of oxycodone prescriptions and pain pills through Medicaid in each county, between 2012 and 2014.
